A Naming Ceremony with your family and close friends is a wonderful way to acknowledge your child as a special, unique person and welcome them with love and gratitude into their community. Traditionally, this was often done on the child’s first birthday, but any age is suitable as long as you can get your closest family together.
Your child’s naming doesn’t have to follow a strict format; instead, I collaborate with you, taking your preferences into account and offering ideas and resources. From there, I design a ceremony that holds genuine significance for you and your family and is meaningful to your child.
Consider incorporating these ideas into the ceremony:
~ Writing a personal message/promise to your child
~ Grandparents reading a poem or a blessing
~ Lighting a named candle
~ Planting a unique tree
~ Releasing balloons
~Asking everyone to write in their Naming book
A Naming Ceremony is also a wonderful opportunity to use a family christening gown and establish a new tradition by calling it “The Family Gown”.
